I don’t ship Karkat/Terezi. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about canon. It doesn’t mean I don’t respect the author, either. I don’t ship it because I don’t think they interact enough to even be a canon pairing. Everyone has different reasons for shipping/not shipping certain characters. Don’t just assume that they’re using the characters as nothing more than ‘puppets’ for their fantasies because they don’t like a certain couple together.
Hell, I’ve even read novels where I don’t agree with some characters being together. I’ll still read the book for the story, and not shipping fantasies. It’s not that hard to grasp that different people have different ideas.
