All the talk about fun 90s classic Sonic got me thinking about the ~dark period~ of Sonic’s history when Sonic Team was trying to make everything DARK and SEXY and SERIOUS and it was just an embarrassment for everyone involved. As fun as the Sonic Adventure Games were, they eventually paved the way for horrorshows like Sonic 2006.

In that time, we got characters like Rouge the Bat and Shadow the Hedgehog, who I honestly think I get a bad rap, because they’re products of the era that tried to make a silly game about catoon animals with attitude running fast A Serious And Grimdark Thing. I love Rouge, and firmly believe that she’s the biggest wasted potential in the series. If you took her basic character elements and wrote her for comedy like the rest of the cast instead of for boners, she’d be amazing.

I mean, she’s a three-foot femme fatale secret government spy who cannot stop stealing shit, like a gem-based, uneducational Carmen Sandiego.If you don’t think that would make a hilarious reoccurring minor villain/NPC, what is even wrong with you.
